According To Laundry Experts, You Should Be Washing Your Sheets At Least Once A Week

Be honest—how often do you actually wash your sheets?

Washing everyday clothes? Easy. But stripping the bed, doing multiple loads, then remaking everything? That feels like a whole workout. It’s no wonder many people delay it for weeks. But what if we told you that skipping your bedding laundry could be harming your health more than you think?

🧼 According to laundry expert Mary Marlowe Leverette, during sleep, your body releases:

  • Sweat

  • Skin oils

  • Saliva

  • Urine (yes, even trace amounts!)

  • Fecal matter

  • Genital fluids

All of it gets trapped in your sheets. And if you’re not washing them weekly? That gunk can seep into your pillows and mattress, which are much harder to clean. The risk of skin infections rises—especially if you have scratches or cuts. And worse: fungi like athlete’s foot can be transferred through fabric.

But it gets even more disturbing…

👉 In Part 2, we’ll reveal the hidden world of dust mites, the invisible invaders thriving in your bed—and why they might be making you sneeze, itch, and even triggering your asthma.
