According to Candece Etafo, Rigby & Peller’s Fifth Avenue boutique manager, you should be washing your bras after every three wears (and those wears should never be in a row). “You’re stretching them out. Would you do that to your favorite pair of shoes? Your favorite jeans? No,” says Candece. Basically, you should be rotating your bras just like you rotate your clothing.

Speaking of washing your bras, you should always hand wash them to prolong their lifespan. If you simply don’t have time to do any hand washing, you should place bras and other nice lingerie in a mesh garment bag, wash on the delicate cycle, wash in cold water, and hang to dry.

One more important tip? Get measured! Before buying any new bra, you should always enlist the help of a professional bra fitter. Between pregnancy, weight loss, weight gain, and simply aging, a lot can change with your breasts and your body.
