Ingredients – Makes 1 liter:
- 1 liter water
- 1 piece fresh ginger about 10 cm or 1/2 cup grated ginger – like in the plate in the photo
- 2 lemons juice + peel
- 1-2 tablespoons honey optional for sweetness
- A very small pinch of black pepper optional – it helps with ginger absorption
Hot Method – For maximum benefits:
- Boil the water: Put 1 liter of water on the stove until it boils.
- Add the ginger: Slice the ginger thinly or grate it and add it to the boiling water.
- Simmer: Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- The lemon: Turn off the heat and add the juice of 2 lemons + the peel. Cover it and leave it for 5 minutes.
- Strain and drink: Strain the drink. You can add honey when it is warm not very hot. Add a pinch of black pepper at the end.
Cold Method – Like in the bottles:
- Grate the ginger finely like in the photo.
- In a bottle: Put the ginger + juice of 2 lemons + 1 liter cold water.
- Soaking: Put it in the fridge for 8-12 hours. The longer it sits the stronger the taste gets.
- Strain before drinking.
How to drink it:
- For digestion: 1 warm cup on an empty stomach
- Throughout the day: Drink it cold instead of regular water
- Duration: 5 days then take 2 days off
Important tips:
- The secret: Fresh ginger is much stronger than powder.
- For sensitive stomachs: Start with a small amount of ginger so it does not cause heartburn.
- Storage: It lasts in the fridge for 3 days.
- Not recommended: For people with ulcers, gallstones, or those taking blood thinners. Pregnant women should check with their doctor.
